Amihan and Localized Thunderstorms to Affect PH Weather Condition, PAGASA Says

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that partly cloudy to cloudy weather will prevail over the country.

On Thursday (October 26, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and the localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that northeast monsoon or amihan cloudy skies with isolated rains over parts of Northern and Central Luzon.

“Patuloy ‘yung pag-iral ng hanging amihan, o northeast monsoon, sa may bahagi ng northern at central Luzon ngunit hindi naman ito inaasahang magdadala ng malawakang mga pag-ulan, bagamat bahagyang magiging maulap lang ang kalangitan sa buong bansa sa buong maghapon,” said state weather specialist Patrick del Mundo.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Del Mundo said that the weather bureau is monitoring cloud clusters over the eastern portion of Mindanao. The cloud clusters outside of the Philippine area of responsibility is unlikely to develop into a typhoon.

“Hindi pa rin ito [cloud clusters sa labas ng PAR] ganap na isang low pressure area,” del Mundo added.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. No gale warning has been raised in any parts of the country.

The coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the archipelago will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

The weather specialist said that the shear line will no longer affect the country’s weather conditions.
